Ministry Update - September 2026

Dear Friends,

In the past few weeks, we have welcomed two new families into our safe house. Both are young mothers who arrived with their children after leaving very difficult situations behind.
The night one of those families arrived, I received a picture that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about.

There they were, sitting in their new bedroom. Nearby was a stack of clothes, pajamas, and toiletries waiting for them. One of the little ones was holding a Mickey Mouse stuffed animal and grinning from ear to ear.

When I saw that picture, I felt such joy.

There is tragedy in what brings a family to our door, and we never lose sight of that. But there is also something worth celebrating in the moment they arrive. They have made it to safety. They have taken an incredibly courageous step toward freedom and healing.

And sometimes that new beginning looks remarkably ordinary.

A warm blanket. Soft bedding. Clean pajamas. New shoes. A stuffed animal tucked under a little arm. A quiet room where no one has to be afraid.

All of those little things begin to say, “We are safe. We are going to be okay. I can rest.”

The first few weeks aren’t easy. When a family has lived in crisis, it takes time to come down from high alert and begin to trust the calm. But slowly, a new rhythm begins. This is where healing and hope take root—small seeds planted in hard soil that, with the right love and care, can begin to flourish.

That’s why I am especially grateful for everyone who helps meet the practical needs of our safe house. When you purchase something from our Amazon wish list, respond to a needs list, or send an item a family can use, you may never see the moment when it is received.

But please know that your gift matters.

That blanket or stuffed animal is more than an item. You are planting a seed of hope. A seed of trust. A seed of courage to believe that some of the things these mothers and children have been too afraid to dream about might actually be possible.

Today, we celebrate two families who have made it to safety. Their stories are only beginning, and there is much healing ahead. But for now, they can rest.

And that is something worth celebrating.
