Why Guatemala?
Guatemala faces a severe healthcare shortage with only 23,000 doctors serving 18 million people—half the number needed. Nearly 80% of physicians are based in the capital, leaving rural, indigenous populations without access to essential care.
Rural areas struggle with malnutrition (approx. 70%)
Geographical isolation limits medical access
Life expectancy is significantly lower in rural communities
OUR RESPONSE
For over 20 years, this local outpatient clinic has been serving three rural villages in Guatemala. Staffed by local physicians, nurses, and clinical workers, this clinic stands as a consistent and trusted source of care for thousands of people. In 2024, Dare for More took over this clinic to continue the work in these villages where we serve.
Our medical mission teams come alongside this effort to:
Strengthen clinic operations
Encourage local providers
Expand outreach to unreached families
Women, Children & Restoration
A special area of focus is serving women and children through prenatal clinic days, offering care that supports both physical health and dignity. Many women have limited access to prenatal or pediatric care and often suffer in silence.
The front door of medical care often opens the way to something deeper—opportunities for rescue and restoration from cycles of abuse, trafficking, and poverty. Through the clinic, women are connected to our safe house, job training programs, and other life-changing resources.
